Eco pods, shepherd’s huts and cabins on a riverside meadow at Harrold, with a free shuttle to and from the gates. Thrills by day, firepits and stargazing by night. Stay wild. Tread light.
Picture the day. Coasters that drop your stomach into your shoes. Whole lands pulled straight out of the movies. The kids still buzzing about it at midnight. Universal’s first ever park in Europe opens near Bedford in 2031, and everyone you know is going to want to be there in year one.
Here’s the catch: there’s hardly anywhere to stay. The resort is building just one hotel to start with, and beds nearby will be gold dust. That’s why our family cabins for opening year have already sold out. We’re a riverside meadow less than 9 miles* away with a free shuttle to the gates, where the evening soundtrack is owls, not air-con.
Don’t just take our word on the bed shortage: the BBC, the Bedford Independent and even the council’s own study all say the same thing: not nearly enough places to stay.
Theme parks don’t take dogs. We do. Stay in a dog-friendly pod or hut, and while our free shuttle whisks you to Universal for the day, these trusted local daycares and sitters can look after your best friend. That’s a holiday no resort hotel can offer.
Small, family-run doggy daycare the next village over. Owners rave about how loved and knackered their dogs come home. Weekdays; book ahead.
Sociable daycare in the pretty market town of Olney. Drop off on your way south, collect on the way home. Weekdays; book ahead.
Well-reviewed local dog walker, an option for a midday walk or pod visit if your pup prefers home comforts to daycare.
These are independent local businesses we’re happy to recommend, not part of our service. Please book directly with them, check availability (some are weekdays only) and satisfy yourself they’re right for your dog.
Tell us what you're after and we'll update you when it becomes available. We're building more, and we work alongside partners across the area, hotels, apartments and other cabin sites, so you get first access when stays go on sale.
Our meadow sits right on the banks of the Great Ouse, a five-minute stroll from the medieval arches of Harrold Bridge and next door to 144 acres of free country park: lake-loop walks, bird hides, day-ticket fishing, picnic lawns and a café, open every day and starting where our grass ends. Wake to mist on the water and kingfishers in the reed beds. Then, after a full-throttle day at Universal, come home to the antidote: the firepit crackling, the weir murmuring in the dark, and more stars than you’ve seen in years.
Explore the river, the park & everything nearby →No on-site restaurant, on purpose. The villages around the Ouse do it better. Walk into Harrold for dinner, or make a pub the destination of your riverside walk.
